Mastering exocad Advanced

Crowns and wax-ups are routine, and then a full mouth case or a double All-on-X arrives. Marjorie Andrade, dental technician and CAD designer, designs a crown lengthening guide, a full mouth rehabilitation and a double All-on-X from setup to finish in exocad, then face scans, printable All-on-X models and five tips. Six chapters, 16 lessons, 129 minutes, 3 CPD/CE hours.

Crowns and wax-ups in exocad are routine for you. Then a case arrives with a bite that has to open, an implant sitting between two teeth, or a request for a guide that reshapes the gingiva. Those cases turn on decisions about wax-up, gingiva and occlusion, and the usual crown workflow stops short of them.

By the end of this module you should be able to design a crown lengthening guide with windows, plan a full mouth rehabilitation with an opened bite, and take a double All-on-X from preliminary setup to a reduced design for ceramic layers. You should also be able to add a face scan to a design and generate printable models for a complex All-on-X case.

Marjorie Andrade is a dental technician and CAD designer from Brazil, who started with 3D technology in college in 2014 and became lead CAD designer in a fully digital lab. When she recorded this course in 2023 she ran her own freelance CAD design company with clients worldwide, producing more than 600 units a month. She later worked as a technician at the iDD Lab in New Zealand, and now designs freelance again.

Marjorie recorded the core of this module in 2023 on exocad 3.0 Galway, and added lesson 06 – 05, an extra tip, in 2024. All the information and processes are still clinically relevant; just the exocad versions and their menus are from then.

Six chapters, 16 lessons and 129 minutes. Chapters 01 to 03 take a crown lengthening guide, a full mouth rehabilitation and a double All-on-X from setup to finished design, chapter 04 adds face scans, chapter 05 the printable models for the All-on-X, and chapter 06 five tips.

A ten-question quiz follows chapters 01, 02, 03 and 06.

What you will learn

  • A crown lengthening guide with cut-pattern windows, built across two projects
  • Full mouth rehabilitation, starting by raising the vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) because the restorations have no room until the bite opens
  • Titanium base selection
  • Tooth placement tools, from chain mode to mirroring a quadrant
  • Free-forming crowns against a wax-up, and adapting them to the preps and the gingiva
  • A double All-on-X built as an anatomic and pontic wax-up, so a virtual gingiva ties teeth and implants together wherever the implants sit
  • Virtual gingiva design
  • Cutback and full reduction, made with room for ceramic layers
  • Aligning a face scan with the intraoral scans and the virtual articulator
  • Printable models for a complex All-on-X, with gingiva masks and an articulator
  • Five tips, from angulated screw channels to a case with a missing scan body

This course is CPD/CE certified for 3 hours.

You get lifetime access to the course as recorded on exocad 3.0 and 3.1.

Written for dental technicians, CAD designers and dentists who already design in exocad and now meet full-arch, implant and full mouth cases. It assumes Mastering exocad Fundamentals and Intermediate, or the same ground: crowns and bridges, the implant workflow, bite splints and the virtual articulator. STL practice files for the full mouth, All-on-X and face scan chapters come with the course.

Fundamentals and Intermediate are the other two modules of Mastering exocad. Prepared teeth, crowns, inlays, bridges and copings are in Mastering exocad Fundamentals, and bite splints, custom trays, provisionals, the implant workflow, wax-ups and veneers are in Mastering exocad Intermediate. Milling and printing settings are not taught here, and neither is exocad 3.3 Chemnitz, which no lesson covers.

Sold on its own or with the other two modules as the full Mastering exocad course.

I love the short videos format

I love the short videos because it’s easier to remember and to go back to it when you are not clearly understanding the steps 🙏😍

Great work by Marjorie and the team.

Really liked the whole Course especially the detailed walkthrough of so many important tools. The "All on X" is indeed one of the most important parts of the whole software which was explained really well.
